Program Overview:

We are interconnected with our environment. The health of our species depends on the microbiomes in the soil, the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat. Together, we can restore this balance between humans and the planet that gives us life.

The Human Resiliency Fund is raising $100M in philanthropic funding to distribute to scientists and non-profits working towards a healthy future on this planet.

Areas of Funding:

  • Lab & clinical research in immunology, microbiology and viromics.
  • Collection and analysis of regional data tracking toxicity and its impact on public health.
  • Prediction modeling to mitigate future pandemics.

  • Creation of a global database of environmental and public health data to democratize access.
  • Regenerative food production and distribution within vulnerable communities, school systems and urban food deserts.

  • Educational programs to bring public awareness to the role of the microbiome, regenerative ecology and food systems on human health & innate immunity.
  • Publications and multimedia knowledge-sharing to inspire more collaboration within the science community.

  • Change in consumer behavior, public health guidelines, and regulatory policy across all sectors of health, energy, transportation, agriculture and ecology.
  • International management of chronic endemic viral and microbiome-related diseases.

Challenge We Address:

Increased human disease is a symptom of the failing health of our planet. As toxicity in our environment rises, we see a decline in our innate and adaptive immunity.

If we don’t act now, we may witness our own extinction.

Scientific Landscape:

Human Immunity – A Balanced Relationship with the Microbial and Viral Ecosystems

The last thirty years of research has uncovered a new scientific paradigm, in which the role of a diverse microbiome of bacteria, fungi, and protozoa serve as the foundation of planetary and human health. Historically, medical science has largely believed that the human immune system is only functioning correctly if it is constantly sterilizing the body. Through genomic sequencing of the microbiome in healthy human organ systems, this has been proven profoundly inaccurate. The healthy body is instead one that is in a balanced biologic relationship within a complex microbial and viral ecosystem.

This enormous body of science and the growing awareness in the professional and consumer marketplaces has not yet had a scalable impact on the pharmaceutical, antimicrobial approach to human disease and farm management. As a result, the continued chemical stress and technological damage to the lifeforms and ecosystems is resulting in accelerated immune function vulnerability. This ultimately is accelerating the prevalence and impact of endemic and epidemic diseases.

Advance the understanding, infrastructure, and action around this scientific revolution.

In recovering a diverse microbiome and placing human health as dependent upon our surroundings, we have the opportunity to become a co-creative, rather than extractive species. We have the opportunity to change our collective behavior and avert our extinction. We can change the trajectory from environmental threat of viruses to environmental opportunity for resilient immunity.

The potential for a healthy future depends on the actions we take today!

The Team

Zach Bush MD
Portfolio Manager

Internal Medicine | Endocrinology and Metabolism | Hospice and Palliative care

The breakthrough science that Dr. Bush and his colleagues have delivered offer profound new insights into human health and longevity. In 2012 he discovered a family of carbon-based redox molecules made by bacteria. He and his team subsequently demonstrated that this cellular communication network functions to compensate for glyphosate, and many other dietary, chemical, and pharmaceutical toxins that disrupt our body’s natural defense systems. This science has resulted in a revolutionary class of dietary supplements, including the product, RESTORE. Dr. Bush points to his kids as the driving force behind his passion for change. He is fiercely motivated by a desire to have them experience a much brighter and healthier future. His education efforts provide a grassroots foundation from which we can launch change in our legislative decisions, ultimately up-shifting consumer behavior to bring about a radical change in the mega industries of big farming, big pharma, and Western Medicine at large. Peter Cummings, MD
Science Manager

Dr. Cummings is an internationally recognized triple board-certified physician, an award-winning educator, and best selling author. His holistic approach to medicine stresses the importance of the brain-body connection in maintaining health and wellness. His passion involves increasing awareness as to the vital need for whole food nutrition, physical and cognitive exercise, hydration, and proper sleep. His experience in the healthcare system has made him aware of the necessity for initiatives that will establish new paradigms in the prediction, prevention, and mitigation of potential global catastrophes relating to human disease and ecological sustainability.

Robert Smith

Robert Smith, Founder of ICV, is a fifth generation investment executive who has spent most of his career managing capital for some of the largest financial institutions and identifying traditional and alternative investment and philanthropic opportunities for family offices. Mr. Smith serves as Advisor to the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), which makes public and private finance work for the poor in the world’s 47 least developed countries; the Permanent Secretariat of the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates; and, the Mandela family’s Africa Rising Foundation. He serves as International Trustee of Religions for Peace International, the world’s largest and most representative multi-religious coalition advancing common action for peace, since 1970, by working to advance multi-religious consensus on positive aspects of peace as well as concrete actions to stop war, help eliminate extreme poverty and protect the earth. Mr. Smith also serves on the President’s Leadership Council of Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health, the largest academic medical center in Philadelphia. Carrying on the mission of his family to provide “inspirational and tangible help for young people,” Mr. Smith serves as a member of the board of directors of the Chaeli Foundation USA, Childhood Cancer Kids, The Children’s Village, St. Clair Butterfly Foundation, and Tuesday’s Children. He also serves as president and a member of the board of directors of The Harmon Foundation, a private foundation established in 1922 by his great, great grandfather, William E. Harmon. In 2018, Mr. Smith was recognized as one of The 100 Visionary Leaders by Real Leaders Magazine, alongside Bill Gates, Muhammad Yunus, President Juan Santos, Mikhail Gorbachev, Leonardo DiCaprio and many others who are leading us towards a better world. He was also inducted as a member of Evolutionary Leaders, alongside Deepak Chopra, Jack Canfield, Gary Zukav, Bruce Lipton, Gregg Braden and other leaders who feel a sense of urgency about the state of our world and are forging a movement for the conscious evolution of humanity.
